About
Independent research at the intersection of hardware and intelligence.
Axion Electronics is an independent research lab focused on applied compute, robotics, embedded systems, and low-level digital design. This work spans heterogeneous compute architectures (CPUs, dGPUs/iGPUs, NPUs, and specialized accelerators) to develop reproducible engineering methods grounded in real-world hardware behavior.
Leadership
Axion Electronics was founded by Kevin Cloutier, an engineer and researcher with over two decades of experience designing, integrating, and validating complex embedded, robotics, and compute systems.
Research Focus
Axion serves as a dedicated environment for experimentation, prototyping, and publishing work that extends beyond traditional corporate R&D constraints. Our work focuses on:
- heterogeneous compute benchmarking
- real-time robotics and physical AI systems
- embedded intelligence and sensor fusion
- FPGA-accelerated systems
- custom electronics and digital design
- reproducible engineering workflows and benchmarking
Background
Kevin holds master's degrees in Computer Engineering and Computer Science, with research spanning secure embedded systems and heterogeneous compute architectures. He is a member of Upsilon Pi Epsilon, the international honor society for computing disciplines.
